How much do you actually know about the NUS? ("Didn't they do that riot thing?" Doesn't count.) The only thing I could think of was that appalling list of chants that Vicki Baars sent out to student unions across the country.
Demo 2012, Staff Contracts: no assembly mandate under minimum attendance rules. Kallum Taylor, YUSU President and the other sabbatical officers cannot not be held accountable for failure to act on many assembly motions that a majority of students present voted in favour of.
I wouldn't go as far as to accuse the University of hiding the fact that they aren't the whole owners - you can find this information if you snoop around in Companies House for long enough. But they certainly didn't go out of their way to make sure that we all knew.
Cadan ap Tomos, YUSU Community Assembly chair, has submitted a proposal to the Local Government Boundary Commission for England (LGBCE) in reaction to YUSU's own submission. YUSU's final proposal states that it represents YUSU's collective position. Ap Tomos, however, fears that the submission "may be taken to represent student opinion, despite only neighbourhood reps having been consulted."
