On Thursday, the first wave of the lineup for Reading and Leeds 2025 was announced, with many eagerly listening to Radio 1, placing their best guesses and recording their live reactions. Jack Saunders announced that Travis Scott will be returning to the popular festival for the first time since 2018, headlining Friday at Leeds and Sunday at Reading. He is joined by Sheffield metal band Bring Me the Horizon, who headlined in 2022 and have grown steadily in popularity in recent years. Hozier will also be headlining, not surprising considering his extremely successful year, with ‘Too Sweet’ taking over the number one  spot of UK charts for weeks. Lastly, headlining Reading and Leeds for the first time, as many had already guessed, is your favourite artist’s favourite artist, Chappell Roan.

Also making an appearance at Reading and Leeds 2025 are rappers AJ Tracey, Blanco, Trippie Redd, Antony Szmierek and Lancey Foux; bands Enter Shikari, Amyl and the Sniffers, Good Kid, Soft Play, High Vis, Wallows, Sea Girls, Royel Otis, the Linda Lindas, Lambrini Girls, the Chats and Mannequin Pussy. Indie band Wunderhorse will also be performing, no surprise after their busy year supporting big names such as the likes of Sam Fender and Fontaines D.C.. Some other notable mentions include The Kooks, Bloc Party and The Dare.

Despite high expectations, the anticipated lineup has, as usual, received mixed reviews, with many claiming the lineup does not stand in comparison to last year’s which featured the likes of Fred Again, Liam Gallagher and Lana Del Rey. It is impossible to deny that the lineup features some huge names, and I, for one, think Saturday at Leeds stands out as the best overall. It’s also important to note that there are currently only four headliners, compared to last year’s six- perhaps we should be expecting more huge names to be announced as headliners in the near future. Of course, there are also many more smaller names to be announced as the year goes on.

Tickets will go back on sale at noon Monday 9 December, and presale starts Saturday 7 December.
