With the English summer coming to an end and autumn greeting us with immediate rain, it’s only natural to want to escape to the sun. So why not try Mallorca? The Met Office’s recording of the average temperature in September being 27 degrees celsius, makes it the perfect getaway spot so here are some ideas of things to do when you’re there.
1. Markets
Markets abroad are so vibrant and fun you definitely don’t want to miss out on the ones in Mallorca. From fresh produce to jewellery and clothes you can find pretty much anything you can think of at these markets (and at a good price); and the good news is that they’re dotted around everywhere. Here are some to consider:
- Alcúdia Market: held every Tuesdat and Sunday 8am-1:30pm
- Lloret de Vistalegre: Mondays
- Petra: Wednesdays
- Sant Joan: Thursdays
- Santa Maria de la Salut: Fridays
- Palma de Mallorca: Saturdays
2. Beaches
When considering your beach day, it’s important to make sure it's got everything you’re going to want to do throughout the day; for example, food places, water activities and sand. Most beaches in Mallorca have these due to its popularity so here are a couple of the best:
- Playa de Muro, Alcúdia
- Formentor
- Port de Sóller, Fornalutx
- Port de Pollença
3. Boat Trips
Boat trips make any day fun, they’re super scenic and often include swimming in which you get a chance to get in the sea. They have a very good feel and really make you feel like you’re on holiday. My favourite ones are:
- Sea Safari (music, snorkelling, caves and swimming)
- Cruise Cormoran (dolphin watching)
- Barca Samba (have many different options)
