Kallum Taylor
Helen Marrison
Graeme Osborn
Bob Hughes
Charlotte Winter

I've put a tenner on that. Odds of 55-1, I'm going to be a happy man tonight.

I would bet against one of those but agree with the other 80%

Best of luck to everyone tonight.

Massively impressed with the turnout this year, kudos to the brilliant work done by YUSU staff on improving the democratic infrastructure.

This AGM is boring. I wish I were there before 945pm! Well done to all campaigners and people getting the turnout, though!

@nouselive Dong oh-shin needs advice on the use of the word "literally", as I'm sure you'll agree.

@nouselive what's the story with prez candidates breaking the rules? I've heard rumours about 2...

22.38 That is an absolutely atrocious picture of Alan Belmore. Poor fella.

Graeme has done nothing for a year, now he can do nothing for another year.

Good news for Brass Band, bad news for students.

Reply

Oliver Posted on Wednesday 21 Aug 2019

@Disillusioned Are you serious? 24 hour library is a massive accomplishment.

Reply

Dan Posted on Wednesday 21 Aug 2019

I ended elections night last year in a drunken state in McDonalds watching one of the failed pres candiates crying into a Big Mac (ironically the candidate that I had voted for). Who will be consoling themselves with a McFlurry tonight?

Reply

@Oliver Posted on Wednesday 21 Aug 2019

All the foundations for the 24 hour library were laid down by Charlie Leyland...

Reply

Disillusioned Posted on Wednesday 21 Aug 2019

Yes it is. Well done to Charlie Leyland for achieving it and agreeing the date two years ago

Go Kallum!

No need for Cems comments in Nacho.

I'm a huge Kallum fan, but no need for that spitefulness.

Normal Student Posted on Wednesday 21 Aug 2019

Gillian Love's comment is frankly pathetic - she has literally no idea what she is talking about, any of the time. Leon will be amazing.

Reply

lambert&butler Posted on Wednesday 21 Aug 2019

well that's a lot of time and effort invested in sports and nothing anywhere else then. extra funding to vanbrugh students anyone?

Reply

Ridiculous Posted on Wednesday 21 Aug 2019

So much bitching between the YUSU big-wigs. Gillian's comments re Leon, and Cem's re Nacho - sad to see. Not very grown-up behaviour at all.

kallum with a kkk Posted on Wednesday 21 Aug 2019

majorly sceptical that kallum with a k will actually follow through on anything, not his style. watch him bask in the glory and milk it for all it's worth.

Reply

S Posted on Wednesday 21 Aug 2019

What was Gillian's comment?! Seems to have disappeared :S

Stuart Pearce Posted on Wednesday 21 Aug 2019

Kallum Taylor also impressed in the Vanbrugh FIFA tournament - could be go on to do the double?

Average student Posted on Wednesday 21 Aug 2019

Gutted for Nacho and Zahra. :( I knew that Kallum will win, but I hoped he won till the last moment.

Reply

Tash Posted on Wednesday 21 Aug 2019

Gutted for Zahra, the best candidate of the lot.

Reply

Anonymous Posted on Wednesday 21 Aug 2019

really gutted zahra lost out. she deserved it. kallum may have had the biggest campaign, but it just means he'll be the biggest disappointment.

Beaker Posted on Wednesday 21 Aug 2019

@james Can't-ney I think that is a stunning photo - a fine figure of a man. From one muppet to another.

Devastated Zahra lost, a wonderful person who would have made an amazing President. We'll always support you in your future Z x

Reply

Analysis Posted on Wednesday 21 Aug 2019

Zarah didn't win because her policies were poor. She was a likeable person. Nacho was never going to win. Kallum had it all the way and never looked like losing it. Winner of the joke candidates was Abir for going out first. Carney was true to his name and was a massive troll throughout. All in all a really enjoyable election to follow.

Reply

anonymous Posted on Wednesday 21 Aug 2019

Shall we unveil the conspiracy? Kallum over spent on his budget. Carney ran to steal some votes from Nacho, be a massive egoist and make Kallum's rule breaking look minor (he was effectively part of the special K team). Zarah was never going to win, she had no real substance and played off the fact she was smiley and likeable. Some people were very very bitter and it was not nice to see.

Reply

Danny Posted on Wednesday 21 Aug 2019

Kallum overspent and Carney was part of his campaign? Grow up.

Reply

Gillian Love Posted on Wednesday 21 Aug 2019

Hello folks, to add context, I'm concerned Leon Morris is LGBT officer because when questioned he was really uninformed (bordering on offensive) about trans issues. I was also surprised by his article in Vision about 'sexual deviancy' and his call to return to 'traditional values' when it comes to sex. I think these are pretty good concerns.

Reply

@Danny Posted on Wednesday 21 Aug 2019

Kallum did overspend. Ask him yourself

Reply

Steve Posted on Wednesday 21 Aug 2019

'Some people were bitter'

Sounds like anonymous might have been running for president...

What's to be done Posted on Wednesday 21 Aug 2019

If Kallum did over-spend what is YUSU going to do about it? What's the point in having a limit to make it fair, if it isn't enforceable?

Reply

@What's to be done Posted on Wednesday 21 Aug 2019

Unfortunately YUSU couldn't do much about it as the returning officer (who was external and from the NUS) made the decision. To be honest the real problem these elections has been him as his rulings have been far too soft and shown very little knowledge of how campaigning works. Kallum's 24 facebook page ban was pathetic and I doubt it lost him a single vote yet when Kallum went over the expenses his decision was to fine him PS15. Considering he now has a PS17,000 job next year, I don't think he'll be that bothered.
