Is the YSTV working? I can't seem to get it past the loading screen..
LOL! Nice commenting. Also your form is dumb.
You are getting fraped to hell....
I thought it all happened at www.yusu.org.uk/vote ?
Come on Farrell!!!
Make sure to upload some pics of the elected giving their speeches!
It's jaime not jamie.
Can't wait for the YSTV coverage going live at 9:30!
Does the YUSU President realise that the reason there were less complaints this year is because less people were involved or excited about the elections? Reducing the number of sabbatical positions available should have INCREASED the number of candidates standing for the other five positions. That's a failure, not a success.
Cat and Nell: It's better to see your policies than your faces.
Also, since WHEN are results not announced at a massive late night event?Would never have happened under Lord M. Burton.
Burton is surely present even though he's not part of YUSU?
Bruno: Also, it's hard to make complaints if the general student population (rather than those running for positions, or their campaign teams) doesn't actually know the rules of the contest.
That's because you're announcing the results in my bar. My presence can always be felt in the Courtyard.
Haha, you legend Matt. :)
Burton: Well, the Courtyard does look like the colour scheme was suggested by someone who's turned up to election night in a jelly-bean patterned helmet in a previous year...
I wish I'd changed the rules so I could run again. I miss hanging with Shanks and the gang.
Hutchings: At least one campaign team has stayed at home...
It's a shame for uni sports that Sam's going to get another go, we had a real chance to move forward this year in reducing the sports centre fees and getting work started on the tent etc from the work done by past YorkSport sabbs and not much has progressed ... and the organisation of varsity was a shambles.I don't know Ben well at all but would have been nice for someone else to have had a shot at it and try and move things forwards at a quicker pace.hopefully there is a bit more visible progression within YorkSport next year, it's what should be expected of a top 10 university ...
I still wish the Courtyard had been named "MJB's"...
I thought Charlie Leyland had been renamed Brian Blessed?
I think those comments are fairly ignorant of the progress that has been made. Sam has been a complete attribute to YUSU for sports, and other aspects as well. He achieved all of his goals within a term and has promised lots more, he knows Yorksport more than anyone and the fact that he is willing to spend another year working for York should only be seen as a gift.
I'm glad that I've been able to follow on Nouse.co.uk tonight. My friends may be along soon to comment. If someone could let Nick Scarlett know that Pete Waterman will be commenting soon it'd be great. Thanks.
Nick Scarlett for YUSU President.
You can tell CHJ is in the house! 'obvvvvvvvvvvvvvs' !!!
I'm coming back to do a masters just so I can run for Welfare Officer nex year.VOTE KATE TAYLOR 2012
Mad Cap'n Tom for President!
Jake was robbed!!! We'd support his YUM anyday of the week.
Don't stop the photos! I want to see the faces of the elected sabbs.
Ah! Sam looks so chuffed!
BNOC?Big *something* on campus?
Could McGladdery be any more bitter? lol Go team Sam!
Good on Ben for taking on Sam. I think YorkSport is great for those who are 'in the club' while everyone else is left on the sidelines.
Well done girls! Loving the blog... especially Pete's class photos. Follow me on Twitter for election coverage @nouselive!
Bob and I look so alike!
I heard that skins is more interesting and relative to my life than the yusu elections. *moderated*
Arthur robbed! :O :'(
I love how nouse moderates out the more accurate of comments in favour of the usual biased crap.
Need to go to work in the morning; but not missing any details thanks to the liveblogs and URY!YSTV doesn't load on my phone :( But you guys are ace :)
this is the third position pav has run for & lost at...i wonder if he'll try again next year??
a girl just got pushed in skins. WHOA.
@ confused, i've always thought it meant big name on campus.
If Scarlett has always voted for the eventual winner does that meant that he didn't vote for his colleague Laura Bo??
Also his parents have just come back during his farmhouse party... And now they're all getting naked. Tense stuff.
Farmer boy is crying having just potentially killed his dad. He's been kicked out. Sad times.
lydia feels 60% confident? LOL who says that.
Oh, advert break, not sure I can take this.
On a more serious note, unlucky Alastair, really thought you were in with a chance. Ah well, at least you have that wonderful photo to help you forget.
Reliably informed it means "big name on campus" - Vision reckon I'm one, though no word from Nouse.Really it means "person some society and media bigwigs think of as well-known" and is only relevant in SU elections and uni popularity contests :P
It's disappointing how small the margins are. That will not help the SU's mandate at fighting increased fees and rediculous expenses!
Really really proud of my big man Sam winning Sports.
CHARLIE ROWLEY FOR PRESIDENT. Lydia 60% confident?? cocky!
"and is only relevant in SU elections and uni popularity contests :P"i agree it's relevant in elections, but i wouldn't necessarily describe most BNOCs as 'popular'. not at least with the normal student population.
Dreamz Murphy for prezzzie 2012/3
ddd: It depends on who's defining them as BNOCs.
@ hann bunn, elaborate?
why so much crying?
ddd: Everyone knows different people. I'm sure that people involved in York Sport will consider different people BNOCs to people involved in YUM, for example. A status of BNOC is one person's opinions, rather than an absolute truth.
YES! well done tim :)
Congrats to Tim!
Well done Tim!
Wow. Second and third preferences really made the difference. Absolutely flabbergasted. Congratulations to Tim! And now for bed...
If I'm reading this roughly right, is turnout down roughly a third on last year? Pretty shocking tbh
an all male sabb team?
Another all-male Sab team? *sigh*
3rd Year in a row there is President Tim at York. Don't think Lydia was the right choice anyway
Disappointed in the turn-out at results night this year. Hoping YUSU will do a better job advertising the elections in 2012!! Let's 'rewind' to yesterday - there was no facebook event for results night. Glad for tim ellis though. Dont know what the booing for lydia was about. Maybe 'seven days' isnt enough time to generate interest for the elections. p.s. Liked the graphics. Really showed the 'rise and fall' of this year's candidates.
Looking at the votes, how is AV fair? Tim didn't get the most number of 1st votes from any of the colleges yet he won?
Really fantastic news that YUSU has Tim Ellis as president! There's obviously something about the name Tim!
One is not amused by the attendance at this year's elections night.
One would like an explanation for the booing aimed at Lydia.
Tim Ellis will get an extra special sandwich from me <3
I AM NOT JASON ROSE!!
Have heard word on the street that the Dr Dre campaign is going to start back up again to take all the new candidates to account
@=O'another'? When was the last all male one then?
@elecwatcher: AV/IRV is fair because Tim managed to (just) appeal to the most people, once Charlie and Aaron were eliminated in the earlier rounds. It's true that Lydia (initially) received the most first preference votes, but not enough to have an actual majority, hence the further rounds, with votes transferring to ensure that they weren't wasted. It's pretty much the fairest way possible of electing a single person.
Re: 22:41 Liveblog PostIt's nice to see the one of Vision and Nouse being hospitable towards the other! Admittedly though Vision's photos seem a lot better, which is weird as when I was still at the university, Vision always suffered to Nouse in terms of photos. That's a pale comparison to now as it seems Vision have finally managed to assemble a half decent photo team! Impressive!
Still not sure of this whole AV/IRV thing.I agree second and third preferences should come into account, but surely not with the same weighting as first preferences.Someone who voted for Rolph effectively got to vote three times...
Still no mention of Dhande having his page taken down Nouse
These elections are beneath me, sorry I ever payed any interest. Not my cup of tea. RH RH RH
